Homelessness Prevention
Cherry Street is uniquely positioned to address the prevention of homelessness.
Each day, we provide roughly 700 meals and safe haven for approximately 230 men and women—from all walks of life—whose paths have brought them to the lowest point of their lives. We see firsthand their despair, suffering, and hopelessness. And we do everything in our power to meet their physical needs and offer them the Hope that is Christ Jesus.
That is the mission of Cherry Street. That is what we will continue to do.
But a few years ago, we began to think about ways we could use our knowledge of homelessness, addictive behavior, and poverty in another way: to prevent those things from happening in the first place.
We came to the conclusion that Cherry Street is uniquely positioned to address this problem. We have the knowledge, the name recognition, and the platform. And Cherry Street knows—as few do—what the future will be if we do nothing: Our future will be sleeping in one of our beds tonight.
The truth is, we would be morally remiss if we failed to address this problem—and so we have launched a number of programs to do just that:
