Ready for Life Program

The purpose of Cherry Street’s Ready For Life program is to return men and women to their families and communities, transformed by the power of God through Jesus Christ.

This program helps Cherry Street fulfill our mission to rescue the downtrodden, restore hope to the hopeless, and release God’s greatness into the communities we serve.

Biblically based, our Ready For Life has a success rate unheard of in secular rehabilitation programs. A year-and-a-half after leaving Ready For Life, 74% of graduates are living independently, no longer homeless.

  • All Ready For Life participants take part in regularly scheduled Bible studies.

Ready For Life is not a cookie-cutter solution; rather, we compile the right program components for each unique individual through an intense case management approach that includes appropriate referrals to other agencies for medical, substance abuse, and mental health assessments and/or care.

  • Program components have been designed to challenge and empower our guests.  Classes include Thinking for a Change, Reformer’s Unanimous, Journey into Discipleship, and The Bait of Satan.  They work together to transform participants’ thinking from adolescent to autonomous.  When they leave us to return to their community, they are changed men and women.
  • We also address the practical in Ready For Life.  At Cherry Street’s Education and Career Center, participants can study for and obtain their GED, learn basic computer skills, create effective resumes, and practice job interviews.  They also gain on-the-job skills through a simulated work experience.

Although we enroll all guests in Ready For Life when they come to Cherry Street for emergency housing,  they determine their degree of participation, as well as their progress, in the program.

Ready For Life graduates realize that the program is just the beginning of a lifelong process of spiritual growth and recovery.  They know that Cherry Street will “be there” for them should they encounter problems or need counsel in the future. We also offer former guests material assistance, such as food boxes, clothing, furniture, and household goods.

If you would like to donate or volunteer to help our guests; have a friend or loved one who may benefit from the program; or would like additional information, please contact us.
