Transitional Care

Food Services
Cherry Street serves men and women every day to help meet their most basic need of eating a balanced meal. In 2006, Cherry Street served 158,773 meals to men, women, and children. We receive food donations from individuals, churches, and corporations. Hundreds of volunteers help Cherry Street to prepare, serve, and clean up meals.

Men’s Emergency Shelter
The Men’s Division is able to serve 150 men each night, providing them with food, clothing, shelter, daily chapel services, and weekly medical attention, as well as information and referrals to agencies that provide a wide range of services. Shelter guests are given the opportunity to enroll in the Ready for Life Program (RFL), a rehabilitation program to help men overcome drug and alcohol addictions and other debilitating issues.

Women’s Emergency Shelter
The Sparrow’s Nest is Cherry Street Mission’s Women’s Division, which provides safe emergency shelter for single women. The Sparrow’s Nest reopened in January 2005, with expanded sleeping and dining areas for 51 women per night. The new women’s program  includes emergency shelter with 24 hour operation, as well as case management, education, and extended lengths of stay.

Food, Clothing, and Household Needs
Cherry Street provides food baskets upon requests. They also provide clothing and household items to families and individuals in need.
