Food Service Cook-part time
Reports to Director of Food Service

The incumbent of this position is responsible for implementing and training food service protocols at the Community Center, located at 1919 Madison St. in Toledo, Ohio, which includes implementing menus, controlling food preparation and working with volunteers.
Leadership
Plan volunteer opportunities and daily operational needs. Prioritize and delegate tasks to employee(s) and volunteer(s). Impart vision in volunteer(s) which inspires continuous improvement and changes that result in efficiency of operation, improved customer service and additional ways to serve the community. Consistently lead by example by following and enforcing all personnel policies. Responsible for and approves food preparation of employee(s) and volunteer(s) by observing methods of preparation, tasting and smelling prepared dishes; viewing color, texture and garnishments; verifying portion sizes, and on-time service.
Stewardship
Prepares food by adhering to nutrition and presentation standards, preparation precedures, measuring results against standards, making production adjustments. Ensure superior customer service to the public. Provide orientation, training, coaching, addressing needs and schedule work hours of volunteer(s). Maintain a clean and safe environment for self, volunteers and co-workers, follows OSHA and ServeSafe standards and company policies. Receive monetary and food donations occasionally. Ensure safe delivery of monetary donations to Food Service Director.
Organizational Advocacy
Support organization by relentlessly upholding the mission, vision, core values and reputation of Cherry Street Mission Ministries in both behavior and speech.
Environment
Work environment is primarily indoors. Exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures may be required. Some outdoor work may be required.
Spiritual Emphasis
Model life transformation for guests by attending church regularly, maintaining an active worship and prayer life, studying God's word, and leading with Christ-like behavior at all times. Provides spiritual guidance to guests as needed.
Accountability
Attend staff meetings as required. Works with outside agencies that are providing volunteers. Maintains weekly volunteer tracking sheets. Responsible for reporting to outside agencies regarding volunteer attendance.
Work Hours
32 hours per week, variable workdays, 6:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday. Some weekend work is required.
Skills
Be proficient in basic computer knowledge, spreadsheet and word processing, data entry, email usage. Continually standing and frequent lifting over 30 lbs.
Education
1 year experience in food service required. ServeSafe training preferred.
