Director of Facilities

PRIMARY FUNCTION

This position exists to effectively develop and maintain strategic systems to insure both the stewardship and development of Cherry Street Mission Ministries’ assets (i.e. buildings, grounds, equipment) through staff members and volunteers (both inside and outside of CSMM). They will both provide leadership and management to facilities’ staff members as well as provide preventative maintenance procedures for all Cherry Street properties. A significant part of this position will also be facility leadership regarding capital project management activities. This position is to be a minister of the gospel of Jesus Christ to all people they interact with in the performing of their job related tasks.

MAJOR OBJECTIVES

  • Provide strategic leadership for both preventative systems and facilities’ staff with regard to all CSMM properties and equipment.
    • Develop systems that will insure all properties are routinely inspected for property and equipment needs as well as emergent work orders requiring immediate attention.
    • Instruct and manage facilities staff regarding all preventative maintenance systems.
    • Instruct and manage all facilities staff regarding emergency repairs and work orders within the ministry.
    • Appropriately inform leadership staff of current and on-going facilities needs with in the ministry, assist in critical budgeting decisions regarding such needs.
    • Manage physical security systems
    • Establish protocols for emergency situations outside of normal work hours
    • Oversee emergency drills and provide feedback to facility leaders on safety and timing
    • Manage and maintain all necessary certifications and code requirements for elevators, boilers, and other mechanical systems as required by law
  • Provide hands-on management of current large scale projects. Be the communication contact for all on-site foremen for general contractors and other hired sub-contractors for expedient decision making and budgetary decisions regarding needed change orders. Provide eyes on site for the interests of CSMM.
    • Working knowledge of project as designed, including some interaction with design team as project is being designed, to be the immediate contact for CSMM.
    • Communication to the leadership staff of critical decisions outside of your role and timeliness of such decisions to insure the continuation of project on time and within budget.
    • Ability to inspect and articulately question all contractors regarding work or intent of finished project.
    • Suggest future projects according to the observations of on-going needs in the preventative side of the facilities department.
  • Provide hands-on work as needed to insure work is done in a timely manner, instruction of facilities staff is accomplished and with an eye to budgetary awareness.
    • Perform plumbing, boiler maintenance, light construction, plowing, minor electrical, grounds maintenance, painting/dry wall, etc. as needed
    • Manage and train staff members to do hands on repair and maintenance work.
    • Plan appropriate projects for volunteers and guest services to assist in above work. Assure appropriate training and management of these volunteers is always included in their service.
  • Develop and maintain a system of overarching janitorial needs for all facilities.
    • Awareness of industry standards for sanitation and cleanliness.
    • Establish relationships with area contractors in janitorial services for appropriate cleaning supplies and their use.
    • Establish through the interaction with ministry staff a system to engage guest services in this janitorial activity.
    • Establish and manage pest management system.
  • Manage all IT related hardware needs.
    • Develop and maintain a system, working with both human resources and the business office, to distribute and reclaim computers and telephones throughout the ministry as needed by staff members who are either coming into or leaving CSMM.
    • Maintain an inventory of all hardware.
    • Recommend and manage all needed wire pulls, data management hubs, wireless systems and server sites throughout the ministry.
    • Report through to leadership staff the proposed future needs of IT hardware needs.
  • Manage all security systems for all facilities.
    • Develop and maintain all security systems (i.e. fire, burglary, etc.) through approved contractors.

Education and Experience: 3 - 5 years management in maintenance, construction or project management

Hours: Typically M-F business hours, with as needed weekend/evening based on project

Director of Food Service/General Manager

PRIMARY FUNCTION

  • Responsible for providing leadership and direction of Food Services at Cherry Street Mission.
  • Responsible for overall strategic planning, budget management, organizational development, staff management, and daily operations.

MAJOR OBJECTIVE

  • Provide leadership stability throughout the operational side of Food Services.
  • Oversee the collaborative process with our partners to achieve upon day one 51% collaboration with the new kitchen at the Life Revitalization Center.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Develops and lead the strategies and goals of Food Service.
  • To keep operational staff aware of the organizational strategies, goals, and how staff can meet the goals.
  • Takes a leadership role in driving a collaborative process not only among operations staff, but also with staff from other department, volunteers, donors and guests.
  • Obtain production capability within the organization.
  • Leads, motivates, and develops staff so they are passionate about the vision that drives Cherry Street Mission. Committed to working effectively toward continual improvement.
  • Provide exceptional customer services to our guests, volunteers, staff and donors.
  • Manages the budget for department.
  • Remain within budget guidelines and ensure that department has necessary resources available for them to run effectively and efficiently.
  • Supports the executive, administrative, developmental and transformative components of the organization ensuring the operational goals and objectives are in alignment.
  • Builds relationships within community forums, civic, and faith-based organizations and participates in activities aligned with the organization’s mission and vision.
  • Ensures all staffing needs and employee issues are communicated to Human Resource Director as well as participating in the hiring process.
  • Oversight of timekeeping and scheduling.
  • Hold staff meetings that encourage and uplifts staff while allowing them to voice concerns and offer suggestions.
  • Provide leadership development to the Food Services team.
  • To bring organization and encouragement to staff, guests, volunteers.
  • To have accurate counts of meals, people, and supplies for Food Service.
  • During the construction process of the new kitchen at the Life Revitalization Center, work 50% of the time on the tasks from the kitchen build work stream.

Education and Experience: As outlined above

Hours: 40 Hours/Week
Pay: $47,476/year
Shift: Monday - Friday


Men's Stabilization Advocate (2nd Shift Full Time)

Cherry Street Mission Ministries is a biblically based organization with a core value of sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ.

We are seeking qualified male candidates to work in our Men’s Facility.

Responsibilities include providing excellent customer service to our guests, assisting in the daily operational needs of the facilities, securing the premises, and maintaining an atmosphere that supports life transformation.

Education and Experience: Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook required.

Hours: Full time
Pay: $11.55/hour
Shift: 2nd


Men's Stabilization Advocate (1st Shift Part Time)

Cherry Street Mission Ministries is a biblically based organization with a core value of sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ.

We are seeking qualified male candidates to work in our Men’s Facility.

Responsibilities include providing excellent customer service to our guests, assisting in the daily operational needs of the facilities, securing the premises, and maintaining an atmosphere that supports life transformation.

Education and Experience: Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook required.

Hours: 24/week, weekends
Pay: $11.55/hour
Shift: 1st


Maintenance Technician

The primary function of this position is responsibility for the general structural integrity and habitability of all Cherry Street properties.

The major objective of this position is to provide a safe environment for both guests and employees of Cherry Street Mission Ministries.

Essential Functions of the Position:

  • Respond to work orders by priority in order to maintain a safe, habitable, environment for Cherry Street guests and employees.
  • Respond to pro-active maintenance requirements.

Education and Experience: | A minimum of 13 to 24 months of experience is needed for the selected candidate. Knowledge of all necessary tools and materials is needed. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Characteristics: • General mechanical aptitude and experience • Extensive hands on experience • Basic knowledge of necessary tools and materials • Great driving skills • Strong interpersonal skills

Hours: 40 hours/week
Shift: Tuesday - Saturday 10:00 am - 6:00 pm


Stabilization Advocate (Contingent)

Located at our Men’s Facility, Madison Food Service and Community Center and Sparrow’s Nest.

Responsibilities include providing excellent customer service to our guests, assisting in the daily operational needs of the facilities, securing the premises, and maintaining an atmosphere that supports life transformation.

Education and Experience: Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook required.

Hours: on call basis - 1st, 2nd and 3rd shifts available ($1.00/hour shift differential for 3rd shift)
Pay: $11.55 per hour
Shift: on call basis


Snow Plowing (On-Call Seasonal)

This position would be using Cherry Street equipment (trucks, etc.)

On call grounds position - for the sole purpose of snow removal & salt application for Cherry Street Mission Ministries Facility parking lots. (5 in total)

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Valid driver’s license & current insurance.
  • To be on call and available at all times of day or night during the winter months.
  • Clean driving record with up to date vehicle insurance.
  • Experience driving a truck with plow attachment and plowing large to small lots and in some cases tight spaces.
  • Pre-Trip and Post-Trip inspections of truck and plow.
  • Post plow cleanup of truck and plow using power wash to spray off salt and debris build up on equipment.

Education and Experience: As outlined above.
